The Program

Graduate Program in Physics

The Graduate Program in Physics (Programa de Pós-Graduação em Física – PPGF) of the Rio de Janeiro State University (UERJ) intends to prepare qualified human resources for research and university teaching. The Program offers academic degrees at the masters and doctorate degree. The program counts with highly regarded Faculties and with an academic production that is internationally recognized.

History

The Program started in 1997, initially offering only the Master’s degree in Physics. We started offering the Doctorate Degree in Physics in 2003. From that point on, the Program began to receive students on a regular basis for both the Masters and the Doctorate. Most students who complete the Masters in our program, usually continues in our Doctorate program.

Our program has a rate of 05 (five) in the evaluation of graduate program made four-yearly by CAPES.

The dissertations and theses themes are highly varied, concentrating on the following areas: Cosmology and Gravitation, Experimental Particle Physics, Mathematical and Computational Physics, Hadronic and Nuclear Physics, Condensed Matter Physics (experimental and theoretical) and Quantum Field Theory.

The Program counts with the support (for both student grants and founding) from the Brazilian founding agencies CAPES, CNPq and FAPERJ.
